Turning My 2022 Christmas Ornament Gifts
The list of friends and family that need a Christmas ornament from Todd seems to grow longer each year.
This year’s design has four ‘windows’ into the hollow center where various adornments can be added to make each ornament unique and special for the recipient.
Todd’s father Jim joined the team to drill all the holes for the 40 banks needed for this year’s gift list. The blank was an accurately prepared 2 inch by 2 inch square 4 inch long with four holes drilled to meet in the center of the blank by Jim.
Todd turns these ornaments ‘between centers in the Dave Dunn style’ as you can see by the ornament turned during his presentation on the far left in this photo. The challenge in this turning is to get an even thicknesses to the ‘globe’ avoiding tear-out and going too far breaking the item. Sharp tools, a steady hand and a degree of patience are all required to get the job done.
So that’s it, easy right? Now on to the other 39… have to keep moving to get these all done!
